Don’t you love creating? I was truly fortunate in that as a child I was allowed to make mud pies, and thus began my love of art. As my creativity developed my mud pies turned into bunny sculptures. Have you had such a fun experience? The texture was delicious. Later, I dabbled in oil paints and in high school was introduced to watercolor. As time went on, I began teaching art to children, and then adults. I love sharing the world of art, every age is interesting to me. I have studied Early Childhood Education, and studied with Tom Lynch, Mel Stalins and Mary Whyte. I love creating on many different levels, whether it be art or flowers or table-spaces'. If I am not in the studio teaching or painting, you will most likely find me in the garden or out in nature.

Owner, operator, and brew master of Kelly Brewing Company, Kelly originated the idea of installing representations of iconic rock albums on the vaulted ceiling of his pub. When not brewing magnificent ales, he prepped and trimmed the acoustical panels for the artists and performed the installation with Brandon Kuskie. Kelly was also known to paint a panel or two!

Wife of co-owner Ross Kelly, Sophie never considered herself artistic, or even that creative, but she says starting a business forced that side out of her. With her sister-in-law, she created one-of-a-kind pieces for the brewery including beer bottle chandeliers, manzanita tap handles and sealed the ponderosa pine wood slabs for the bar top. They also covered the tables with maps from around the world and covered them in a two-part epoxy, “The ceiling mural project helped me gain confidence in painting which I had never even attempted to do before. Thanks to Dan Craig for encouraging and believing in my artistic abilities.”

I am an artist, living in Mountain View, and was introduced to Kelly’s from a friend living in Morgan Hill. I recognized how much heart Ross and Sophie put into their brewery, and after seeing the first mural, I wanted to join the community of artists who are supporting this project. It is a wonderful and collaborative experience, and a testament to honoring their creative vision as business owners, and community members. Since retiring from a career in Silicon Valley, I am taking full advantage of creating multi-media, including painting, photography, hand-building clay, and collage work.

I honestly cannot remember a time in my life that I did not want to create art. I went to San Jose State University and majored in Commercial Art and went on to expand my background to include Graphic Design. I worked as a graphic designer for 25 years. I love the creative process, taking an idea through to completion, creating a work of art. Because of my graphic design/illustrator background I tend to be more of a realist painter though I have dabbled in abstract painting as well. I work in watercolor and acrylics. My artist endeavors include stain glass, watercolor, acrylic, crocheting, knitting and murals, I am really enjoying being a part of the artist group creating the album cover murals for Kelly Brewery!

My name is Ignacio Moya, better known as Nacho. I am the proud owner and artist of Moya Art Gallery and Studio located in Gilroy, CA. Since the age of six, I knew I had a passion for art. Everywhere I looked, I saw and found beauty in all the things that surrounded me. I knew making a living as an artist would be difficult, but I took it upon myself to follow my dreams and turn then into reality. With high hopes and optimism, I left my job at a retail store and I began a new adventure. It has been three years since I decided to follow m dreams. It has not been easy, but I have worked very hard to share my talent with the world. I want to inspire people to follow their dreams and to believe in themselves. I have hosted hundreds of paint parties for companies such as Netflix, Facebook, LinkedIn and Santa Clara County. I have also volunteered in many city events. With the shelter in place order, I’ve had to work virtually, and it has been amazing! It brings me so much joy to know that people from all over the United States and other countries tune in to paint with me. I have had so much support from my community and my followers. I believe it is important to give back and those in need.

Les Taylor is a Morgan Hill artist whose Taylored Expressions represent her love of the arts. A lifelong musician, she spent a lifetime voicing this passion through song. Then, in discovering painting, she found another medium for her inspiration. Always an expressive, the freedom and authenticity she felt in being able to interpret, explore and discover ways that were very personal and equally profound became the path for her entire life and career. Seeing art as a bridge to sharing enjoyment with others, this was simply another means for building community, insight and transformation. Her paintings explore variety in texture, shape, color and spirit. The ruler for “victory” in her paintings is when peoples’ curiosity is piqued and they are able to see, with their own artist lens, the imagination and perspectives that art evokes. This inspires play, variety and the freedom to find all that lies within all of us.

Sandra Willson was born in the Santa Clara Valley of California. She enjoys the area so much partially due to its close proximity to so many beautiful places, from the Sierra Mountains to the gorgeous Pacific Coast. She has always had a love of all things art, and attended West Valley College in Saratoga CA, where she studied textile art/fashion design. Influenced by her mother with an eye for design and love of sewing and painting, and her father with a love of the beach and photography, she combines her talents into beautiful scenic oil paintings. Primarily self-taught, she likes to create images that are realistic, while also relaxing and serene. A nature lover from the start, Sandra enjoys creating scenes that speak to people, and take them to a peaceful place. She finds peace herself in creating these works in oil on canvas. She spends most of her time creating in some way, and spending time with her husband and Aussie dog!

My work is inspired from life. With all my subjects, landscapes, flowers, and people, I build an emotional connection. I study light, gesture, colors, line and expressions and hope to capture the essence of the subject. Currently, I am working on watercolor portraits, but I have a broad background which includes oils and acrylic. I’ve enjoyed teaching art for more than 20 years, and I’ve particularly enjoyed working on the mural project, as it’s been a chance to be part of an artistic community in Morgan Hill.

Lina Velasquez grew up in Medellin, Colombia — her home country is the inspiration for the vibrant colors she uses in her painting. Combining and experimenting with many styles of abstract painting, Lina’s artwork is unique for its intricate themes and colorful scenes. Each painting encompasses a different mini story about life and nature. For the past 10 years, Lina has been involved I community development projects in the City of Morgan Hill. Projects ranged from painting utility boxes and murals to popup-parks to beautify the city and provide safe places for kids to play. Lina dedicates a lot of her time to kid’s art classes in low-income communities, bilingual charter schools, and through after-school programs, most recently at Voices College-bound Language Academy. For the past three years, Lina spearheaded and led the Morgan Hill Youth Art Exhibition in which 40-50 works of art by the youth of Morgan Hill are exhibited.
